The Office of Vital Statistics in Dover processes birth record applications within 2-5 weeks. 

To make sure that your vital records request is processed without any problems, it is essential to follow the required steps. This includes filling in the form correctly and providing the correct documents.

The processing fee for a certified copy of a birth certificate in Delaware is $25. This fee is nonrefundable, even if the no record is found during the search.

The payment should be made by check or money order, made payable to the Office of Vital Statistics in Dover.

It is also possible to order copies of birth records online. Prices may vary depending on which service you choose to use.

In addition to a completed vital record application form, you must also prove your identity with photo ID to submit your request in Delaware.

You must have either a driver’s license or a state ID. If you do not have either of these documents, you must have 2 of the following:

• Military ID card

• Voter registration

• Passport

• Vehicle registration

• Bank statement

• Medical insurance card

• Card insurance card

If you are not the relevant person on the birth certificate you are requesting, you must also have a document proving that you are a parent, child, spouse, or legal representative.
