The New Orleans Bureau of Vital Records and Statistics's Office is the central office for the state of Louisiana and it issues certified copies of New Orleans City-Parish birth certificates, New Orleans City-Parish death certificates and New Orleans City-Parish marriage records for events that occurred in New Orleans City-Parish. You may order copies of Louisiana vital records through this office or, in some cases, the office of the county clerk where the deed happened.

Vitals records are held at the Bureau of Vital Records and Statistics. The Bureau holds birth records for 100 years, and death records for 50 years, however both are strictly confidential in the state of Louisiana. Older records are maintained by the Louisiana State Archives.
