The Office of Vital Records in Carson City is in charge of vital records for citizens of Nevada. It is possible to request birth and death records dating back to 1911. The department also has indexes of marriage and divorce certificates.

The person named on a birth certificate in the state of Nevada and their immediate family members such as their spouse, adult children, and parents may also request a copy of their birth record.
This request normally takes between 4 and 6 weeks to complete, and the arrival of an official copy of the birth certificate.
Submitting the birth certificate request by conforming to all the requirements and by using our online Vital Records office database to find your nearest office ensures you will circumvent your request taking longer than normal to process.
To apply for a copy of your birth certificate, or an immediate family member’s record, you will need to pay the correct processing fee in full.
Failure to do so will result in a much longer wait for your vital record.
Each official copy of the birth record that you order comes with a charge of 25 dollars.
The payment of the application fee can be made either by personal check or money order. Either method of payment must be remitted to the Office of Vital Records.
There are a number of identification documents that will be accepted as part of the process to obtain a copy of your Nevada birth certificate.
These documents should be both current and meet the following requirements.
You may submit one of these varieties of identification:
- Driver’s license with photo
- State ID card
It is also possible to submit any 2 of the following documents:
- U.S. Military identification
- United States passport
- Foreign passport
- Voter registration card
- Vehicle registration
- Bank statement
- U.S. Passport or a foreign passport
- Medical insurance or car insurance card
