New Hampshire State Information

New Hampshire joined the union on June 21, 1788, becoming the 9th U.S. state. It is located in the New England region of the northeastern United States. Due to its granite formations and quarries, it is often nicknamed “The Granite State”.

The state of New Hampshire is the 5th smallest by size and the 10th least populous. In 2020, the population was recorded as 1,3770,529.

Hillsborough County is the most populous in the state, followed by Rockingham County, Merrimack County, Strafford County, and Grafton County. The capital of New Hampshire is Concord, and the largest city is Manchester.

The Division of Vital Records can be found in Concord. Birth certificates go back to the year 1631, death records to 1654, and marriage records to 1652. Some divorce certificates are also available to the public.
