The Oregon Vital Records Office's Office is the central office for the state of Oregon and it issues certified copies of Multnomah birth certificates, Multnomah death certificates and Multnomah marriage records for events that occurred in Multnomah. You may order copies of Oregon vital records through this office or, in some cases, the office of the county clerk where the deed happened.

About Oregon Vital Records Office

Oregon is situated in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western U.S., with the Columbia River running along most of its northern border with Washington, and the Snake River along most of the eastern border with Idaho.

Vital records for events in Oregon are maintained by Oregon Vital Records in Portland. The office has birth and death records since 1903, marriage records from 1911, and divorce records from 1925.

You can expect the process of requesting your legally valid copy of an Oregon birth certificate to last between 3 and 5 weeks.
You can save time when applying for a copy of your birth certificate by using our online Vital Records office database to find the correct location to receive your document.
It’s also critical to remember, by including all the necessary documentation, you can avoid longer processing times and receive your certificate as scheduled.
You must pay a fee to receive your birth certificate in Oregon. It’s essential to include the payment with your application or your application will take more time.
For the first copy of a certificate that you order, you must pay 25 dollars.
For any additional copy of a birth certificate, the fee will be an added 25 dollars.
Personal checks or money orders must be made payable to the Oregon Health Authority.
To apply for an Oregon birth certificate, you need to also submit a valid form of identification.
You can submit one of the following when you apply for your certificate or your child’s certificate:
- State or out-of-state driver’s license or photo ID
- U.S. Military ID card
- U.S. passport or visa
- Student ID card with name and photo
If you are unable to provide the previous forms of ID, you can submit any 2 of the following:
- U.S. military card or original discharge paper
- U.S. immigration or naturalization papers
- Tribal membership card with photo
- Concealed weapon permit with photo
- U.S. alien registration card
