Copies of birth records in the state of Washington may be requested by the individual named on the certificate or by the parent or legal guardian of the individual on the certificate.
The processing time of your birth record request in Washington will last between 1 and 3 weeks by mail.

You are required to pay a fixed charge if you request a copy of a Washington state birth record.
The fee in Washington is fixed at an initial price of $25 for a copy of the vital record.
If you would like to request any more copies of a birth certificate in the same order, you will need to provide an added $25 for each additional copy.
The acceptable forms of payment for a birth certificate in Washington include a check or money order. Either form of payment must be made payable to the State Health Department.
For your Washington birth certificate to be received on schedule, it’s obligatory to include a photocopy of an acceptable form of identification.
In the state of Washington, you may include one photocopy of one of these primary forms of ID:
- Driver’s license
- State photo ID
- Current U.S. or foreign passport
- School ID card
- Company identification
- Green card
- I-94 form with visa
- Military ID
- U.S. certificate of naturalization or citizenship
As an alternative, you may present any two of the following secondary forms of ID:
- Vehicle registration
- Concealed handgun license
- Selective service card
- An expired driver’s license or state ID that expired less than 5 years ago
- U.S. passport that expired less than 5 years ago
- Medical or Medicare insurance card
- Veteran Affairs card
- Utility bills
